Well this product worked for me for about 3 months. Everything was going fine and then all of the sudden the audio cut out. I turned it off and then back on and nothing worked. I tried unplugging it and waiting a few and then trying again, I even did the factory reset and still nothing. I called harman kardon and I have to send it back to them for another one, pain in the ass.... but other then that, its pretty awesome when it works.

I have been seeing the other 2 reviews listed and am sorry they had issues with the wonderful receiver! Had mine now for a little over a month and let me tell you, awesome incredible powerful and not just making this up! I had this receivers older brother the Harman Kardon AVR 745 for several years and decided to replace it with newer technology and first tried the Onkyo TX NR3008, and really liked all the features, including the very good upscaling and twin hdmi outs, but had to send it back and get all my money back for reasons of sound quality compared to my older technology but superior sounding HK 745 that had more power. The Onkyo was missing sound detail and was all there, but, detailed highs were missing, midrange was missing detail also. The bass output was almost as good as the HK. Sound reproduction was what I am/was after. Good thing I purchased it from a good store, they gave me all my money back minus shipping back to them and this was in latter 2009. So decided at the end 2010 to try again, after reading reviews and more reviews purchased the Yamaha RX A3000, really liked the features on this receiver better than the Onkyo, but again another receiver sent back and got my money back!! Upscaling was better than the Onkyo, was faster on swapping sources, twin hdmi out worked wonderfully, but the sound reproduction was not as good as my old HK 745. Was missing the detailed highs, mids were missing detail also, bass reproduction was very good though, still not as good as the old 745 but close. Finally decided to try this monster, the Harman Kardon AVR 7550hd!! I just thought my old Harman Kardon AVR 745 sounded good! This new receiver has better sound reproduction than its older brother, sound detail is hard to describe, but my custom built big boy speakers have never sounded so good! The receiver is still breaking in and gets better sounding every day, highs are so crisp, mids are more detailed than ever and the bass output, well let me say have had stuff falling off my entertainment center, with my sub turned off!! That had never happened before, turn the sub on and the police have stopped by because neighbors complained. HK stands behind their products as long as purchased from an authorized seller, and yes there have been bad HK products and I have my share, so was hesitant on buying this receiver, but now what took me so long!!!!! Purchase and enjoy!!

I had concerns about this receiver after seeing the negative reviews, so I contacted HK customer service. They told me that they had received very few complaints about the AVR7550 and that the customer service rep himself had one of these receivers. He told me that in his opinion, it was their best A/V receiver ever. Based on his statements, I ordered it and I'm glad I did. I was a little concerned that it wouldn't drive my PhaseTech 6 ohm speakers, but it handles them with no problems. Even with the volume at a loud setting, the receiver has never gone into protect. All in all, it's truly an awesome receiver with amazing sound.

We purchased this unit because it was supposed to be the top of the line AVR from a top of the line brand. It seemed odd that it could not be purchased directly from Harman Kardon, and maybe that should have stopped us right there - but we were determined and found it on Amazon via one of their associated sellers. We hooked up all the peripherals - TV; CD player; DVD player; turntable; Roku box; VCR; ipod bridge; 5 speakers; programmed the universal remote to learn all the individual remotes; then we did the EZ EQ test to determine sound quality in the room and auto-adjust - and that was the end of the AVR. It locked up upon saving the results and never came back. Not through power-off, not through reset.
We probably had 5 minutes or so of enjoyment from this unit while testing individual components. It seemed great for that period of time, but now it's dead. We are incredibly disappointed and frustrated. Probably will not try another Harman Kardon - and definitely not the AVR 7550.
P.S. see the other review on this unit- it posted the day after we ordered ours!
